One of the most popular web browsers, Opera, has already rolled out their Opera Touch for Android and iOS with built-in Crypto Wallet and Web 3.0 browsing functionalities and support for Ethereum decentralized apps (or Dapps). Now, in a recent blog post, Opera announced their future plan to launch an update that will support TRON’s TRX and other TRC-standard tokens within its browser.
Opera has the ability to support ERC and ETH tokens. The endeavor of adding another blockchain into its platform will bring Opera closer in its strategy to make Web 3 more inclusive and user-friendly for people around the world.
Krystian Kolondra, EVP at Opera, Head of Browsers stated:
“TRON is a popular, quickly developing blockchain with a swiftly growing dApp ecosystem. We are happy to open our browser to it. By opening products to multiple blockchains, we are accelerating the mainstream adoption of Web 3.”
Opera has already introduced its built-in crypto wallet and functionality to explore blockchain features in Opera for Android back in December 2018 that made it the first major Android browser to support these functionalities. Opera has also introduced these capabilities to Opera’s PC browser in April 2019. The iOS version of Opera touch is currently in beta stage and has already been released for testing purpose to selected users.
Justin Sun, TRON CEO, stated:
“We are excited that Opera, a mainstream browser with hundreds of millions of users, will now seamlessly support TRX and other TRON tokens. Soon, Opera users will be able to use dApps on the TRON blockchain.“
Opera has more than 300 million worldwide users and the company is planning to provide them with the most seamless experience when it comes to blockchain-based browsing and decentralized applications.
Talking about TRON, it is one of the largest blockchain protocols and has already reached an impressive mark of more than 2.7M TRX accounts and approximately 3M transactions in the span of 24 hours. Moreover, there are now more than 400 dApps built on the TRON blockchain and a 100 million USD fund dedicated to game applications – TRON Arcade.
Opera is planning to add more blockchain platform by the end of this year once the TRON integration is completed and is also planning to become a full-fledged web browser that supports decentralized application and Web 3.0 functionalities.
