PornHub Network’s Tube8 to Pay Cryptocurrency for Engaging with Online Porn

The porn industry has justly earned itself a reputation of an early adopter – from VHS, through DVD and Blu-ray, and all the way to the most advanced developments of online streaming. Now, a new revolutionary type of technology is being embraced by a major player in the porn industry – crypto.

The popular porn website Tube8 has announced a collaboration with the blockchain-based token distribution platform Vice Industry Token (VIT) in order to attract more users and encourage engagement on the site through token payments for interactions. That’s right, you’ve read it properly: Tube8 will pay users for watching porn, and sharing, liking and commenting on the site.

Robin Turner, spokesperson for Tube8, didn’t mince words to promote the new enticing endeavor:

For as long as I can remember, getting paid to watch porn was always a pipedream; one that was always dreamed about, but never fully realized. Now however, with the introduction of VIT, we are marking a paradigm shift in how people consume adult entertainment. As opposed to having to fork over money to consume content, which some sites require, our users will get paid to consume our free content. The more they interact with our videos, the more money they earn. So make sure you spend some quality time on Tube8 next time and like, share and comment on our over 1.5 million videos.

Tube8 is part of the PornHub network, which is owned by the Canadian adult entertainment company MindGeek. There are many funny masturbation jokes to insert here, but in all seriousness, this new porn-crypto partnership of the adult network that in 2017 had around 30 billion visits (!) could be another step toward mass adoption of cryptocurrency – and with this kind of traffic, quite a significant one. True, Tube8 is not one of the highest visited sites within the PornHub network, which includes PornHub, YouPorn and RedTube; but it would be safe to speculate that this is merely a test case before a wider integration throughout the network if proven successful.

At this point it’s unclear how VIT could handle the massive volume of visitors on the Ethereum network, which can currently only process 15 transactions per second; it is far more likely that VIT will employ its integration with Steem blockchain (aka Graphene), which boasts 100,000 transactions per second.

In any case, VIT already has an earlier partnership with a different adult entertainment icon – the porn star and (allegedly) ex President Trump’s paid paramour, Stormy Daniels. Back in May, VIT and Darkreach Communications (which manages StormyDaniels.com alongside over 20 other adult websites) announced on a partnership that introduced cryptocurrency in the company’s web properties.

Well, it appears that the steamy romance between porn and crypto is blossoming.
